Natural Soaps, Candles & Aromas

Homemade Hand Soaps with Aloe Vera and Honey

A simple approach to a useful everyday craft.

Project notes

Start with a ready-made melt-and-pour soap base and follow its supplier’s instructions. Choose a mould you can reuse and keep your work surface clean. For your first batch, use a base already formulated with aloe or honey rather than adding fresh ingredients, which can change preservation and performance.

Melt only as directed, pour carefully, and let the bars set fully before unmoulding. Store them somewhere dry between uses. Label your ingredients when giving soap as a gift, and avoid promising skin or health benefits.

Handmade Gifts & Accessories

Natural Perfume Blends with Essential Oils

Explore fragrance with a thoughtful, less-is-more approach.

Project notes

Begin by recording the scents you enjoy: woody, floral, herbal or citrus. Try a scent composition on paper first, changing one ingredient at a time and keeping notes so a favourite combination can be repeated.

For products that touch skin, use a supplier-tested formulation and its specific dilution guidance. Essential oils are concentrated and some have additional restrictions. Do not assume that a natural ingredient is suitable for everyone; a dry botanical sachet can be a simpler first fragrance project.

Eco Home Décor

Designing a Minimalist Bedroom with Natural Accents

A quieter room starts with materials you already love.

Project notes

Choose a restrained palette of warm white, sand and soft green. Clear one surface before buying anything new, then introduce texture through a linen cover, a wooden stool or a woven basket you already own. Natural accents work best when each piece has a practical role.

Keep lighting warm and use a washable rug beside the bed. Repair or refinish existing furniture before replacing it, and choose second-hand pieces by their condition and usefulness. Leave enough empty space for the room to feel easy to live in.

Natural Crafts

Crafting Miniature Forest Terrariums with Kids

Build a tiny green landscape and watch it change.

Project notes

Use a clean, wide-opening container and plants with similar light and moisture needs. An open container is easier for beginners to manage. Add suitable potting mix, place the plants gently and leave space between them for growth.

Let children arrange clean stones and sketch the finished landscape. An adult should handle glass and tools. Water sparingly according to the plants’ needs and observe the soil before adding more: a miniature garden is a lesson in patience as much as making.

Natural Soaps, Candles & Aromas

Natural Incense Sticks from Herbs and Spices

Get to know botanical scent before choosing a project.

Project notes

Dried herbs, bark and spices offer a rich palette of aromas. For an easy introduction, arrange a small botanical sachet with fully dried materials instead of making a combustible mixture. Keep notes about the combination and replace the contents when their scent fades.

If you choose to use commercially made incense, follow the maker’s instructions, provide ventilation and use a proper heat-resistant holder. Keep smoke away from children, pets and anyone sensitive to it, and never leave a burning stick unattended.

Handmade Gifts & Accessories

Making Eco Gift Boxes from Cardboard and Leaves

Give yesterday’s packaging a second, beautiful purpose.

Project notes

Select a clean, sturdy cardboard box and remove old labels. Measure the gift before cutting a new insert or folding a smaller box. Cover visible seams with reused paper and use a strip of scrap paper as a simple belly band.

Finish with a pressed leaf attached to the band rather than covering the whole box in glue or glitter. Keep decorative parts removable and avoid adding materials that complicate local recycling. A handwritten note often makes the most memorable finishing touch.

Eco Home Décor

Sustainable Bathroom Décor Using Stone and Clay

Small, practical details for a softer everyday space.

Project notes

Start with a durable soap dish that drains well and a tray that is easy to clean. Choose existing ceramic pieces before buying new ones. A small clay pot can hold dry accessories, while a washable textile brings warmth without adding clutter.

Check that surfaces tolerate humidity and that any handmade clay piece is suitable for its intended use. Keep heavy stones away from shelf edges and clean damp surfaces regularly. The most useful sustainable choice is often the one that lasts and is maintained well.

Natural Crafts

Making Natural Paints from Plants and Earth Pigments

Discover colour through small experiments on paper.

Project notes

Test colour using familiar food ingredients such as beetroot or turmeric mixed with a little water. Use small, separate bowls and label every sample. Brush swatches onto scrap paper to compare the wet colour with the shade left after drying.

These experiments may fade and are best suited to temporary artwork. Protect clothes and worktops from stains. Avoid unknown plants, unidentified soil and airborne mineral powders; use art materials designed for children when working with younger makers.

Natural Soaps, Candles & Aromas

The Art of Layered Candles with Botanical Touches

Let colour and considered packaging tell the botanical story.

Project notes

For a first candle, use a candle-making kit with a matched wax, wick and heat-safe container. Follow the maker’s temperatures and fragrance limits. Build a layered appearance only when the instructions support it, allowing each layer to set as directed.

Keep dried flowers, leaves and other combustible decorations out of the wax and away from the wick. Add the botanical detail to a removable label or gift wrap instead. Burn on a heat-resistant surface within sight, away from drafts, children and pets.

Handmade Gifts & Accessories

Upcycled Fabric Bags with Natural Dyes

Turn a forgotten textile into something you can use again.

Project notes

Begin with a clean cotton or linen remnant, checking that the fabric is strong enough for a bag. Make a paper pattern, leave a seam allowance and reinforce the handles. A simple flat tote is an approachable project for learning neat seams.

If experimenting with colour, use a documented textile-dye method suitable for your fibre and dedicated equipment. Try a small swatch first and check whether the colour transfers when damp. You can also keep the original colour and make the bag distinctive with visible mending.

Welcome to LLYORA

A home for
hands-on creativity.

Ideas for curious makers, home enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys turning simple materials into something meaningful. Our focus is natural crafts, useful décor, and thoughtful handmade gifts.

Make it your own.
These project introductions are starting points. Adapt colours, textures and materials to what you already have, and follow product instructions whenever a project uses heat, fragrance or specialist supplies.

Choose with care.
Natural materials still need thoughtful handling. Make for usefulness and longevity, keep tools appropriate to your experience, and involve an adult when children work with glass, cutting tools or hot materials.
